JRC
In this performance, the artist will distribute 1000 hand-folded paper boats along the two mile stretch of 14th Street. The boats will be left in public, communal, and—where possible—private spaces for others to take, relocate, or dispose of as they see fit. Boats of the Seaside Fleet are patterned to help them stand out and blend in with their surroundings. Certain boats for this installation will spotlight the history of 14th Street, while others carry a symbolic response to the strife of recent history.

The shared goal in all JRC’s practice is an attempt to build a space for the audience into his art and let them create a personal narrative around it. He works in installation, performance, and collage. Since 1999 JRC has been the Artist-in-Residence for The Dreamboat Research Project.
