Tasha Dougé

This performance addresses 45 issuing an Executive Order on Combating Race and Sex Stereotyping on September 22, 2020. The order depicts the United State of America as a post-racial and anti-sexist country. This is what Americans are expected to believe, all while in midst of a global pandemic and return back to “normal.” The artist wants folx to reckon with what this “New Normal” looks like, to see what erasure and gaslighting looks like. The default of “normal” can no longer be the standard and “sanitizing” the situation doesn’t allow people to heal, grow, and create a new paradigm.
